Humans or Machines: which faction should you choose?
Dust Dominion factions are not visual versions of the same army. Humans and Machines change how you build, hold territory, and pressure an opponent. The better choice depends on the decisions you prefer to make in real time.
Humans: logistics and combined arms
Humans expand their infrastructure inside a power network. Base planning becomes part of the strategy: production, research, and defense need to operate as a connected system.
Soldiers, Leopard Tanks, Snipers, and Falcon Helicopters cover different battlefield roles. Their strength comes from combining infantry, armor, artillery, and aircraft, supported by the Command Center, Barracks, Laboratory, and Bunker.
Commander Rocha complements this style with War Cry and Grenade. Humans suit commanders who enjoy preparing a line, coordinating different units, and turning logistics into steady pressure.
Machines: autonomy and specialized pressure
Machine structures assemble themselves and regenerate outside combat. Their infrastructure replaces the Human power network with a more autonomous model, but it still depends on positioning, protection, and control of resource routes.
Assault Drones, Titans, Specters, and Leviathans cover infiltration, endurance, and siege. The Central Core, Assembler, Data Matrix, and Obelisk support an army that can cloak, detect, create barriers, and break fortified positions.
The Omega Unit uses Synchrony and a short-range jump. Machines suit commanders who prefer specialized tools, sudden breaches, and pressure that is difficult to stop.
What changes — and what remains essential
Your faction changes units, structures, technologies, heroes, and missions, but the fundamentals remain: collect iron and uranium, protect the economy, gather information, choose research, and fight for useful positions.
Try both factions in the campaign and configurable modes. The choice becomes clearer when you learn whether you prefer coordinated infrastructure and combined arms or structural autonomy and sharply specialized units.
- Choose Humans for power-network planning and combined arms.
- Choose Machines for autonomy, regeneration, and specialization.
- With either faction, terrain, vision, and economy determine which tools are available.
